Inner Ear

The inner ear includes the cochlea, the semi-circular canals and the auditory nerve.

Most hearing loss is a result of problems with the inner ear. Such a hearing loss is generally refered to as a sensorineural hearing loss. It may also be called (less accurately) a "nerve loss" even though the most likely cause is the cochlea.
