3D Model of the Inner Ear

Ear Drum

The ear drum is a thin membrane at the end of the ear canal. It separates the ear canal from the middle ear. Sound waves coming in the ear canal cause the ear drum to vibrate. The vibrations are then induced in the three small bones in the middle ear which amplify the vibrations and transmit them to the cochlea.
