cookie bite loss

A hearing loss that looks like a bite has been taken out of the middle of your audiogram is called a cookie bite loss. It means that you hear better in the low and high frequencies but less well in the middle frequencies.

A cookie bite loss is relatively rare, with the more common "ski slope" or high frequency loss being much more common.

Early hearing aids were not well adapted to fitting a cookie bite loss, since they were more suitable for the more common losses, but newer hearing aids with multiple channels or bands have made it easier to provide a good fitting for a cookie bite loss.
