Next Meeting

Asheville Chapter Steering Committee is sorry it had to cancel the meeting on 14th February. That talk will be rescheduled eventually. Given that the weather was obviously awful and the roads bad, we hope nobody made the journey, to be faced with a notice on the door. We do encourage anyone who finds us via this webpage to get onto our mailing list with an email address. That way you would be informed of something like this as soon as we know. While our Bulletins and Flyer do go to people with only regular mail, of course we can't reach them that way. They are on their own, I'm afraid, and should stay in touch with Asheville Schools if they have any doubt.

Asheville Chapter's next meeting will be on Wednesday, 4th April, at 10.15 a.m., when Sharon Everett, Speech Therapist, will speak about the speech therapy role in regard to hearing loss. This is actually an important subject for wearers of both cochlear implants and hearing aids, and those with hearing issues who wear neither.

Below is a photo of a recent meeting.

Incliment Weather Policy

In inclement weather we go by Asheville Schools' weather policy, except we cancel even if they only announce a delay. That's because we ourselves have to get there early to make the meeting happen, and that can be impossible.

Area Served

The HLAA Asheville Chapter serves Asheville and the surrounding areas of North Carolina. We welcome anyone who can attend our meetings.

If you have a hearing loss, or care about someone who does, or if you serve or support the hearing loss community as a professional or volunteer, then please plan to connect through HLAA and our Asheville chapter with others who are sharing through presentations and social interaction what they've learned about making the most of their hearing. Family and friends are also welcome.

We expect that Computer Assisted Real Time (CART) or Computer Assisted Notetaking (CAN) services will normally be available for meetings, so the text of whatever is said will be visible to all attendees to make sure you don't miss anything. We are also now looped and have effective sound.
